Memorial Day Campout

Our family has set a goal that we are going to go camping 5 times this year.  This will be a feat for us because the last time we went camping was about 5 years ago (and there was running water).  Over Memorial Day we went camping in the mountains about 40 miles north of Craig, CO.  It is absolutely beautiful, but a long way to go to camp.  We went with our good friends David & Stephanie Flint and their 5 kids.  We stayed in one of Erik's friends cabin completely equipped with one of those cool looking old timey wooden outhouses.  We were grateful for the cabin because it rained most of the weekend.  The only thing I could have done without were the mice, but what do you do.  I endured that as best I could.
I prefer camping with running water & flushing toilets but Erik tells me that's not camping.  Why not?  If I'm sleeping in a tent (outside) & sleeping bag on the ground, does it matter if there is a facility close by that have showers & flushing toilets?  In my mind that's camping.  :)

Anyway, the kids had a total blast!  The 4 wheelers were the highlight of the whole trip.  They couldn't get enough of them.  There was a pool table in this cabin, and they loved that as well.  The chain link swing you see in the picture is actually used to help clean an elk or deer after a hunt.  Kind of gross, but the kids loved it.

The guys got a 14 ft bonfire going which they were so proud of and was actually very cool.  The kids got to do some shooting too.  I am not huge into target shooting, I have never really liked it, but I did enjoy watching everyone else have fun.  My friend Stephanie is like sure shot Annie Oakley.  She hit the target just about every time, probably beating out her husband.  That was impressive.

I love the pictures from the camping trip! How fun! So that's my idea of camping too, Kevin thinks I'm a wimp. Glad you guys had fun. Good luck in Grand Junction this summer.
