This last Thursday, Ethen and Mia spent the day touring the Capitol. It was the last day for the Governor to sign bills passed during the 2008 Legislative Session, and Erik had two bills that he was working on that were signed that day. Worried that his bills might be in danger, Erik brought in the big guns to make sure that they were enacted in law. Who would ever turn down the lobbying of a 5 and 7 year old?!?!
Fortunately, in the midst of all their hard lobbying efforts, Ethen and Mia found time to meet and get pictures with several state elected officials.
Picture #1 - While Ethen is very excited to see Governor Ritter, Mia has decided that politics is not for her...
Picture #2 - Ethen and Mia discussing the virtues of small government and the need for free-market reform with Republican Representative Bob Gardner.
Picture #3 - Ethen and Mia drawing a crowd of interested listeners including Rep. Marsha Looper (2nd from left), Board of Education member Peggy Littleton (middle), Senator John Morse (2nd from right), and Senator Abel Tapia (far right - that is his position in the picture, not his political ideology).
Picture #4 - Hanging with Representative Morgan Carroll.
Picture #5 - House Majority Leader Alice Madden, who knew how to get Mia into taking pictures. Apparently from her experience as a mother, she knows that a little tickle before the picture gets Mia smiling for the camera.
We all had a great time at the Capitol and even got to tour the dome.

I wish I could say that sounds like an amazing trip...:). I am glad the kids had fun and were able to help dad lobby. What were the bills that Eric had pass?
