Ethen v. The Puma

While Ethen was going to school this morning, a vicious puma jumped out from the shrubs, violently attacking him.  Luckily, this last month in karate served him well.  Ethen was able to beat back the crazed cat, only suffering a bruise on his forehead and a small tear in his fingernail cuticle.  He would have walked away completely unscathed if only he went for the side kick instead of the roundhouse... one day he will learn.

Actually, he took a spill on the ice while getting on the bus.  He managed to survive a day of watching TV and playing Gameboy while he recovered.  It was tough for him, but he managed.

So, am I to understand that he stayed home from school because he fell down? What's wrong with this younger generation? I remember standing in neck deep snow drifts waiting for the bus to go to school, and fighting off hostile indians with my toothbrush in the process. Barefoot. I had a hollowed-out cantelope half for a hat, and was thankful for it. Many is the time that I had to wrap a dirty sock (borrowed from someone because I was barefoot, remember) around a wound to keep from bleeding on my homework. And, I was thankful for the homework too. And the blood because I didn't have a pencil and used it to write my answers. Anyway, I'm glad (thankful) Ethen is ok, and tell him his grandpa loves him.
